• Live period music performed by conference participants, the acclaimed string trio, Les Triolets.  The trio–two violins and a cello–is led by Bruno Gilbert-Samson and specializes in dance music, particularly dance tunes from the early nineteenth-century. The musicians perform throughout the Northeast and Canada.  They will showcase music transcribed and arranged by another conference participant, Bertrand Lamoureux.
• A dance caller, naturally.  The popular caller and dance coach, Sharon Schenkel. A recently retired pharmacist, Ms. Schenkel has been dancing for 15 years and has participated in English Country dances and workshops locally, all over New England, in Quebec and Ontario, in Ely, England, St. Croix, USVI, and Hawaii. With others, she administers and teaches English Country Dance at Adirondack English Country Dancers in Plattsburgh, NY.  She is a devoted student of English Country Dance and an articulate interpreter of dance steps.
• Whist table.  Learn how to play the popular card game that absorbs characters and entertains non-dancers in Austen’s novels.
• Raffle.  No Austen gathering would be complete without a glimpse of Austen goods.  View the basket of goodies, and purchase your raffle tickets at the conference and at the dance.  Winner will be announced during the dance.  Must be present to win.

Open to the public.  Casual dress, though those with period costumes are warmly welcome.  Novices encouraged to attend.  Each dance is fully explained and walked through.  Suggested donation for participants not registered for the conference: $5
